We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, and disclosed by the Knob16 app and the knob16.com website.
Knob16 does not automatically collect personal information for the developer. Settings and presets are stored locally. For verified Knob16 Pro owners, preset files are also synchronized through the user's private iCloud account.
MIDI data is processed and transmitted directly between your device and connected MIDI hardware or software. We do not collect, store, or have access to any MIDI data you create or transmit.
The app stores preferences, settings, and presets on the device. Local storage is always the primary copy of your presets, whether or not you own Knob16 Pro. Knob16 has no developer-operated account or synchronization server.
To enforce the Bluetooth MIDI, Grouping Mode, and Live Mode trial windows, the app stores, for each feature, the number of trial windows used and the start time of the current window. This state is kept in the device-only Keychain, is never synchronized to iCloud or sent to the developer, and contains no personal information. It is intentionally retained when the app is deleted, so it may still apply if Knob16 is reinstalled on the same device. It is removed when the device is erased.
When you own Knob16 Pro and iCloud is available on the device, preset files are synchronized through Apple's iCloud Documents service in your private iCloud account. The developer does not receive, access, or control the contents of your iCloud account or your synchronized presets.
If Knob16 Pro is refunded, revoked, or otherwise no longer verified, synchronization stops. This does not automatically delete presets stored on the device or presets previously synchronized to iCloud. Synchronization resumes only after a valid Pro purchase is verified again, for example with Restore Purchases.
Preferences and presets remain on the device until you delete them or delete the app. Presets synchronized to iCloud remain in your iCloud account until you delete them. The developer holds no copy of this data, so it has no separate retention period.
You can delete a user preset in the app's preset list. While Knob16 Pro synchronization is active, that deletion is also synchronized to iCloud; your other devices ask you to confirm before removing their copy. Built-in presets cannot be deleted. Deleting the app removes its local preferences and presets, but not trial state or iCloud data.
The app does not provide a single action that removes all iCloud data. To remove all synchronized Knob16 data, open the device's Settings, go to your Apple Account, then iCloud, and manage iCloud storage for Knob16. Deleting it there removes the synchronized presets from all devices that use that iCloud account.
The Knob16 app does not use analytics, tracking, advertising, or third-party crash-reporting tools. Knob16 sends no usage analytics to the developer.
The Knob16 website may use privacy-conscious website analytics to understand page visits, downloads, and engagement so we can improve the site experience. This applies only to knob16.com, not to the app.
The app may use Bluetooth and local network connections to communicate with MIDI devices. These connections are direct and peer-to-peer; no data passes through our servers.
Apple processes App Store purchases and provides iCloud storage for Pro preset synchronization. Those services are governed by Apple's terms and privacy practices. Knob16 does not add analytics, advertising, or developer-operated tracking services.
Local data is protected by the device's standard security features. Pro cloud data is stored in the user's Apple iCloud account and is subject to Apple's security and privacy practices.
Knob16 does not knowingly collect personal information from children through automatic app telemetry. The app is suitable for all ages.
If you choose Send Feedback, your mail app prepares a message containing the app version, device model, and iOS version. Nothing is sent unless you send that email, and you may edit it before sending.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the app and on this page with an updated date.
